Thank you so much for sharing this information. Iknew something has been wrong with me all year and I've had so many different type of test taken and been diagnosed with so many different things and I was still feeling down. When I began to have menstrual issues, I knew having had regularity all my life, something was wrong. I was diagnosed with diagnosed with adrenal fatigue and periomenospausal symptoms and immediately placed hormone replacement therapy, because I am so depleted.

It's unbelievable that my symptoms are so closely matched to everything you described. When we damage our body, we in a sense are killing ourselves. I realize that I'm too old to be living the same way that I have for the past 38 years, so I am committed in 2012 to bringing my life in order.

I've never known how to relax and loosen up and it's finally taken a toll on me. I must change, because it's now impacting my relationships.

I am kind
I am important
I matter

Bless you!

May I be safe
May I be happy
May I be healthy
May I live with ease

Another great article, Nancy, and so right - cost never needs to be an obstacle to eating well - eating badly will always cost us more in the long run. There are a few more ideas here: http://paleodietnews.com/1970/following-the-paleo-diet-on-a-budget/

Hello Nancy! I have enjoyed your blogs on happiness so much. It is not only such a vital part of good health, but when our moods are good, and we put that message out to the Universe, good things start to happen. (I loved seeing Jack, too; it takes me back to my childhood. My mom loved him!)

I wanted to give you an update on my progress with adrenal fatigue, because I have had such a breathrough that I just had to share it with you. As you know, I was doing everything suggested in every book on adrenal issues: The food, the fat, the sleep, the supplements. And although I am better than I was 2 years ago, I am still house-bound. I have been so desperate for the missing link.

You had suggested meditation, which helped, but I still felt like something was not right. And then I found it: A book (and website) called "The Mood Cure, " which may not sound like a help for adrenal fatigue, but once I read it, I had a total light bulb moment. The premise of the book is amino acids and how much of the population is walking around depleted of these wonderful mood lifters. I took the tests in the book and scored low on endorphins and seratonin, and that was when I realized, Duh! I have been taking care of everything BUT my brain, and as the author explains, once your brain believes you are happy and well, your body will follow suit!!

The next day I started taking the aminos I'm low in and almost immediately, I felt lighter. My brain seemed less foggy and I just feel happy! Now of course, I am in no way ready to run a marathon, but I finaly feel certain that I am on the road to recovery because my brain feels like I am. It is so cool!!

I'm sorry this is so long, but I thought the book would tie in well with what you are talking about here......Because happiness IS a choice, but sometimes when your brain won't take you there, it's hard to be happy. I've always tried to be a happy person, and often people around me never believed I was sick because I try to always smile and have a joke. But a day or two on aminos and I can't believe I forgot how light and happy life really is!!

Blessings!
Susan

Sorry Nancy, but that simply isn't true. You're failing to count the millions of humans who die unnecessarily due to a diet that regularly contains animal products. If you would like more facts on this there are a multitude of sources. One being "The China Study" --the most comprehensive study of nutrition ever conducted.Source: http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=the+china+study&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=2259587180546563365&sa=X&ei=z2tuTqCxHMPEgQfjhKH-BQ&ved=0CDsQ8wIwAgOn my part, I'm not in favor of a plant-based diet for animal welfare reasons, but for human health reasons. The research and facts are abundant and can speak for themselves --not to mention support from a variety of physicians and other independent researchers. Peace out.

I understand your desire to honor living
creatures. Agriculture kills more living creatures than raising and
slaughtering animals does. That aside, the desire to honor living creatures
doesn’t change human physiology. Peace Love, Nancy

The New York Times is correct. You, on the other hand, have written the most
misleading, uninformed piece of crap I have ever read. Let me guess, you get a paycheck from the Meat,
Dairy or Egg industry?

Here is just a sample of the things you've gotten wrong:

1. "...if all
Americans switched to a diet of real, whole, living food tomorrow there
wouldn’t be anywhere near enough food to go around." FALSE! For example, there is enough grain alone
to eliminate hunger globally if only PART of the CURRENT grain given to world
livestock was diverted to children and adults.

Source:
Documentary "Forks Over Knives", 2011

2. "... the cells are rebuilt, not with plants, but
with meat, eggs, butter, whole milk . . . cholesterol/fats, and
protein." FALSE! Humans, for example, share 97.5% of our DNA
with apes and apes get massive, strong healthy muscles and bodies on their
natural plant-based diet after weaning.
Aside from an occasional bug, after weaning apes are 100% vegan. Their, and our, cells rebuild perfectly on a
healthy, plant-based diet.

What exactly is in "meat, eggs, butter, whole
milk" that you think we must have?
If your answer is protein, calcium, vitamins, minerals, etc. etc., those
are ALL supplied by a normal, varied plant-based diet. In fact, many plants have MORE calcium,
vitamins, minerals, etc. than animal foods. Soy beans, for example, are a 100%
complete protein like meat. On a healthy, plant-based diet our bodies
naturally produce ALL the cholesterol we need.
We don’t need the unhealthy, artery-clogging kind supplied by meat,
dairy and eggs! FYI Brainiac: That cholesterol is ONLY supplied by animal
foods. NO plant foods contain
cholesterol.

The only nutritional thing a 100% plant-based diet cannot
provide is vitamin B12 –It is plentiful in soil and animals naturally eat soil
with their food so, hence, they can provide some B12 to us. Solution?
Don't wash your fruits and vegetables so much [Not recommended!] or
simple take a daily multivitamin [Recommended by nearly all physicians
regardless of if you are a meat-eater or not].

Why don't you tell the truth? You are playing with people's lives and
coronary health!
