MINGLING AND SCHMOOZING ABOUT KARMA IN HISTORIC DOWNTOWN VENTURA

When I was a kid we all knew Ventura from the Beach Boys. It was surfing, and woodies. Ventura is still a cool city, laid back, historic, and charmingly sophisticated.

This week I was invited to lunch with Barnaby Conrad (in the madras jacket). Barnaby and his wife Mary used to own the Santa Barbara Writer’s Conference, and I met him there 20 years ago. He still calls me “Cruella.”
